CES 2015: Sony announces its new Walkman NW-ZX2 runs on android

Sony has declared at the CES 2015 press conference about their new Walkman NW-ZX2 with a new PHA-1A headphone DAC/amplifier that is designed for a high-quality music player.

This new Walkman NW-ZX2 is made of some solid material, which is the reason it’s very heavy. So there are no chances of damaging the device if it falls from hand by chance. Only some scratches you may notice. The reason of the heaviness is the high-quality DAC inside the walkman that is attached to enjoy an extreme high-quality audio at 192 KHz/24 bit. The main attraction is that there is no audio compression at all.

All the buttons are located at the right bottom on the walkman such as power button, media button, volume button, etc. Also there is a lanyard hole to prevent the chances of slipping the phone from hand.

At the extreme bottom of the Walkman NW-ZX2 there is a place for micro SD-card insertion. A docking port that exactly looks like a charger is made for using the amp plugs, and a gold-plated headphone jack for the headphone that is situated just behind the micro SD-card slot.

However, the price of this new Walkman NW-ZX2 is extremely high, which might not be affordable by most users. The price tag is $1119. With the Sony PHA-1A headphone DAC/amp the audio sounds amazing. This walkman runs on 4.2 Android Jelly bean and is having full Google play certification. So you can download the required apps in your walkman.

One major drawback is that the device can’t be carried when the PHA-1A headphone DAC/amp is connected to it as this amp needs a power source. Moreover, it is too heavy that it is not always possible to carry.

However, if you want the best audio quality, then this is the one for you.
