Disney Plus not working: How to fix it

Disney Plus is one of the leading online streaming services with more than 25 million subscribers. It contains an extensive library, and with affordable pricing, it can make your entertainment experience a pleasant one. Disney+ allows seven user profiles per account, with the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously with unlimited downloads.

The content can be streamed with up to 4K resolution with HDR 10 and Dolby Atmos support. It was first launched in the United States, Netherlands, and Canada, then extended to Australia and European countries. Later, it was extended to some other nations also. However, at times, there can be significant technical issues. Let’s see how to address and overcome some of them.

Fixing streaming problems

The most common fixes for streaming problems are as follows:

  1. Make sure you have typed in the correct password. If not, reset it and try again.
  2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Try restarting your connection like your mobile data or Wi-Fi.
  3. Close your Disney+ app and restart it.
  4. You can also try to sign out and sign in to your Disney plus account again.
  5. One possible solution is to clear the cache files (temporary files) from your streaming device and then restart the app.

Major errors

Some of the most common error codes and their fixes are discussed below.

Error code 24 – Wi-Fi issue

This error code usually appears when your Wi-Fi connection speed drops. An easy solution for this is to reboot or reset the router. Call your internet provider and report the problem if the issue is still there.

Error code 39 – Xbox One issue

As the title says, it appears for Xbox One users. Ensure you are not streaming your content simultaneously on any device other than your gaming console. If you find one, just quit the service on that device and refresh your Xbox One.

Error code 42 – Connectivity issues

This is also another major problem faced by most of the viewers.

First, it could be a server issue from the Disney side. Unfortunately, in this case, we cannot do anything other than wait for some time as it may be due to the overwhelming response to content from the subscribers.

Secondly, this error code appears when there is an internet connectivity issue. Check your internet speed and ensure it is above 5 Mbps for HD content and above 25 Mbps for 4K content. You can also check your Wi-Fi modem settings for the latest firmware update.

Error code 73 – Location availability issue

This error code appears when there is an availability issue. Some contents from the Disney+ services are specific to a particular location. You may encounter this error when you try to view content that is not entitled to your location. In this case, you can use any VPN service to switch to the respective region and view the content.

Error code 83 – Device compatibility problem

This has been one of the major issues reported by the subscribers, which means there is a compatibility issue with your device. First, power cycle your device (Turn it off and on). Secondly, download the Disney+ app from the App Store or Play Store, not a third-party site.

Another issue may be with your operating system. Disney+ may reject your device if you run it on an older iOS or Android operating system. Please download the latest OS update provided by the OEMs.
