Facebook Is Testing Live Photos Sharing On iOS

Currently, Facebook is testing a new feature, called Live Photo Sharing and Viewing on iOS device to a small percentage of their mobile app users. This new feature is about to be rolled out to all Facebook mobile app users, early next year. Live Photo is one of the new features on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and it includes 1.5 seconds of video and audio from before/after you hit the shutter button on Camera app.

The way to upload a Live Photo is similar to uploading a standard photo (image still).

“Uploading a Live Photo is pretty similar to uploading your standard still — in fact, it’s identical, save for one extra step. While uploading a photo from your camera roll that happens to be Live Photo-enabled, a “LIVE” box appears in the bottom right; tap that, and it’ll upload as a Live Photo. Don’t tap it, and only the still goes up.”

The difference is, a Live Photo on news feed will have a special sign as a circle with the word “Live” on it, and to make it dynamic, you can just tap and hold that sign. Any iOS device that runs iOS 9 will be able to view Live Photos on Facebook, but only the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are able to capture them.
