  • Turn off your Console. The power indicator will blink for a few seconds before it's off.
  • Now, press and hold the power button again - Release the button after you hear the second beep (About 7 Seconds )
  • Connect your controller to the Console using the USB cable, then press the PS button.

How to fix a PS5 or PS4 that's stuck in Safe Mode

1. Restart your Console

The first thing you should try is a simple restart.

  • Completely turn off your PS5 or PS4 by holding the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Wait for the light to stop blinking.

2. The Power Cycle

  • Completely turn off your PS5 or PS4 by holding the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Wait for the light to stop blinking.
  • Remove the Disc and all cables; this includes Power, USB, HDMI, and External Hard Drive Cables.
  • Then, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to turn on your Console.

3. Update your PS4 or PS5 Software

Consider installing any new updates to your Console from Safe Mode.

  • Boot your Console in Safe Mode
  • Then select "Update System Software" (Option 3)
  • Then choose option 3 (Update using the internet)
  • Restart your Console

4. Restart your PS4 or PS5 from Safe Mode

Consider restarting your Console from Safe Mode.

  • Boot your Console in Safe Mode
  • Then select "Restart PS4" or "Restart PS5." ( Option 1)
  • Restart your Console

5. Clear Cache and Rebuild Database From Safe Mode

Consider rebuilding the database and clearing the cache from Safe Mode.

  • Boot your Console in Safe Mode
  • Then select "Rebuild Database" on PS4 or "Clear Cache and Rebuild Database on PS5 ( Option 5)
  • Restart your Console

6. Initialize PS4(Reinstall System Software) from Safe Mode

  • Boot your Console in Safe Mode
  • Then select Initialize PS4 (Option 7)
  • Restart your Console

7. Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) From Safe Mode

  • Boot your Console in Safe Mode
  • Then select Reset PS5 (Option 7)
  • Restart your Console
