  • Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone
  • Tap the three dots right next to the user's post
  • Next, tap Hide
  • Now tap Mute (username)
  • Tap Mute Posts or Mute Posts and Story

How to mute someone on Instagram through their profile

Another way to mute someone on Instagram is through their profile. Here is what you need to do:

  • Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone
  • Go to the user's Instagram profile
  • Tap Following
  • Tap Mute
  • Finally, tap the switch next to Posts and Stories

You can mute Instagram users through direct messages. Follow the steps below:

  • Open Direct Messages
