How to perform a factory reset on Samsung Galaxy Note 10

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is one of the best smartphones out there. But due to some reasons, the users may face some issues which can only be fixed by performing a factory data reset. The major reason for such a decision is the slowness of the device. This generally occurs as the device starts to save unwanted data in the form of cache, cookies, etc. So, to clear your device and free up space from unwanted data you need to perform a factory data reset.  The steps are quite easy. Before anything else, you should back up your data. Factory data reset deletes everything on your phone, including apps, photos, videos, etc. It also restores the settings to factory defaults. That is why you should create a back up first.

Method 1

In this method, we are going to perform a factory reset on Samsung Galaxy Note 10 using the options in Settings. As mentioned, it is recommended to back up your data before resetting your phone. To factory reset your phone follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down and look for Factory Data Reset and tap on it
  3. Again, tap on Factory Data Reset option
  4. Then, click on the Reset button
  5. To proceed with the reset, the phone will ask you the security pin, password or pattern
  6. After entering the pin or password tap on Delete all

Your phone will now restart and will start deleting all the files and folders and restoring the settings to the factory defaults. This process will generally take 2-3 minutes after which the phone will restart.

Method 2

This method is also known as a hard reset. This method is probably used when the first method of the factory data reset option doesn’t work because for this option, you are going to use the buttons. Hard reset generally wipes out all the data of your device. Follow the steps below:

  1. To reset your phone using this method, turn it off first
  2. Then, press and hold the Bixby key and Volume Up key simultaneously, then press and hold the Power button
  3. Wait till the screen shows the green Android logo and then release all three keys
  4. The screen will show Installing the System Update menu for 30 – 60 seconds and then the Android System Recovery menu option will appear
  5. Navigate through the option in the Recovery menu using the Volume down key and then select the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option (The option which is selected gets highlighted)
  6. Press the Power button to tap on the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option
  7. Scroll down the options using the Volume Down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ – option gets highlighted
  8. Press the Power button to start the hard reset or master reset
  9. This process will take about 5 minutes to complete and then ‘Reboot system now’ option is highlighted on the screen
  10. Tap on the option by pressing the Power key
  11. Your phone will restart.
