How to reset Roku to factory defaults

If you are planning to sell your Roku device or you want to give it a fresh start, you may reset it to factory defaults. When it comes to Roku devices, there are two ways to do this. The first one is through Settings, and the second one is by pressing a reset button on the device itself. How to reset Roku: Settings

As we mentioned, one way to reset your Roku device is through Settings. Here is how to do that:

  • Press the Home button on the Roku remote
  • Find the Settings menu, navigate to it using the remote and then press OK to select it
  • Next, select System
  • Now select Advanced system settings
  • Choose Factory Reset
  • Select Factory reset everything and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

How to reset Roku: Reset button

Newer devices come with the Reset button located on the back of the device, so all you have to do is press and hold the button for 20 seconds. If you have an older device that comes with a pinhole reset, you will have to use a paper clip so that you can press and hold the button.

Once the reset is completed, you will see the Home screen and you will have to set up your device.
