iOS 9 Adoption Rate Reached 61%, This Is A Huge Success?

Apple released the iOS 9.0 on September 16, brought news apps, features, improved security, and more. Until now, they released 2 minor updates for iOS 9.0 within a month: iOS 9.0.1 and 9.0.2. What about the adoption rate of iOS 9 so far? Does it good?

Today, Apple announced that the iOS 9 adoption rate has reached 61%, increase of 4% from last week. This percentage is taken from the calculation data from the Apple Store on October 19. The data showed that 61% of devices are using iOS 9, 30% are using iOS 8, and 9% are using an earlier firmware version.

If we compare this with the adoption rate of iOS 7 and iOS 8, iOS 9 places a second position. The adoption rate of iOS 7 in the first week after it’s released, reached almost 50%, and a month later, more than 75 percent has been installed on iOS devices, while iOS 8 has a lower adoption rate. In the first month it reached less than 50% of adoption rate, and needed up to 6 months to reach 75%. Why did it happen? I’m not really sure, but if we consider the user curiosity about something new and interesting, it could be one of the reasons why user were so excited to upgrade their iOS. For example, iOS 7 offered differently UI and features compared to iOS 6, while on iOS 8, there’s nothing too special, except the Apple Music update on iOS 8.4. When it comes to iOS 9, it offers many interesting and new things, such as the Proactive feature, new multitasking feature for iPad, Picture in Picture, and more. Unfortunately, in the first launch, iOS 9 has some issues, which made users to hold up themselves to upgrade their iOS.
