Is your Nintendo Switch frozen? Here is what to do

A Nintendo Switch can freeze for a variety of reasons. It can become unresponsive due to a bug, software glitch, battery-related problems, issues with Wi-Fi, or loss of connection, just to name a few. Whatever the reason is, there are a couple of things you can do to unfreeze it; all of them are listed below.

How to fix a frozen Nintendo Switch

Sometimes, only the game may freeze, but the console will remain responsive. If that’s the case, you must restart the game by pressing the Home button and then go back to your game immediately. But, if the console is unresponsive, try the following:

Place your Nintendo Switch in the dock or remove it from it

The best place to start fixing a frozen Nintendo Switch is by placing it in the dock or removing it from the dock. This simple action can fix the issue as it will interrupt the system, so glitches and bugs may disappear immediately. This only works for the original Nintendo Switch, not for Nintendo Switch Lite.

Reset your Nintendo Switch

The next thing you can try is forcing the console to shut down. To do that, press and hold the power button for 12 seconds and then release the button. Don’t worry; you won’t lose any of your data by doing this. Once the console is off, wait a couple of seconds and press the power button to turn it back on. It should work just fine now.
