What is the sidebar (edge panel)?

Edge panels are little floating windows that appear on the side of your screen when you swipe from the edge of the display. They contain icons for frequently-used services like the camera, voice assistant, flashlight, or music player.

The edge panel's primary function is to save you time by letting you quickly access common tasks without having to return to the Home screen every time.

Here's how to remove the sidebar on Samsung

Not everyone likes edge panels on their Samsung phone. Some users find them too distracting, while others don’t see much use in them.

While you can customize the panels and add or remove the apps as you please, you can also remove them altogether. Here's how:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Select Display
  • Tap on Edge Screen

  • Enable the "Edge Panel" by toggling it on.

If you don't want to turn off the panels completely, you can customize them. Here's how.

How to Customize and Add Multiple Edge Panels

  • Slide your finger or pen along the edge when the display is in standby mode.
  • Tap on Settings (Gear icon) in the bottom-left or bottom-right area of the screen.

  • Choose your Edge panel (App Edge, Live Message, People Edge, Smart Select, Task Edge, and Weather)

  • Slide your finger or pen along the edge of the display
  • You can now switch between panels and swipe left or right to change the edge panels.
  • You can also jump to the panel by tapping on the "Menu icon."

How to customize the Edge Panel handle

  • Slide your finger or pen along the edge when the display is in standby mode.
  • Tap on Settings (Gear icon) in the bottom-left or bottom-right area.

  • Tap on the menu icon (3 dots) in the top-right area of the screen.

  • Tap "Edge Panel Handle"

Things you can do :

  1. Change the position of the edge panel (Left or right)
  2. Adjust the transparency of the Edge panel (Low - High)
  3. Adjust the size of the Edge panel (Small-Large)

  • Tap on the menu icon (3 dots) in the top-right area of the screen.

  • Tap on "Galaxy Store"

  • You can browse the store for free and paid edge panels. Use this tab to switch between types and tap the "Download Icon" to install your panel.

How To Customize and Edit Your Edge Panels (Add Apps)

You can add apps, people, and widgets to your Edge panels for quick and easy access. You can also create an app pair.

  • Slide your finger or pen along the edge when the display is in standby mode.
  • Tap "Edit" on the Apps edge.

  • You can select from the list of available apps on the left sidebar.

  • To add an app, tap on the app from the "All Available Apps" section and to remove an app, tap the (-) icon on the right sidebar.
  • To create an app pair, tap "Create app pair" on the left sidebar.

  • Select your two apps, then tap done.

  • The pair will now be visible on the panel.

You can customize other edges, such as the people edge and other paid and free edges on the galaxy store.

Making these changes is quite simple. Choose the option that suits you most, and go for the adjustment that will make the usage of your smartphone or tablet more comfortable.
